W. Robert Kohorst is the President and founder of Everest Properties. From 1984 through 1990 he was the President of the Private Placement Group for Public Storage, Inc., a national U.S. real estate syndicator. In 1990, Mr. Kohorst became the Chief Executive Officer and principal of two businesses, Tiger Shark Golf, Inc., a golf equipment manufacturer, and Masquerade International, Inc., a manufacturer of Halloween costumes. In 1991, Mr. Kohorst co-founded KH Financial, Inc. (the predecessor to Everest), which engaged in the acquisition of general partner interests, real estate companies and related assets. Mr. Kohorst holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Dayton.
David I. Lesser is the Executive Vice President. Mr. Lesser joined Everest in 1996. He practiced corporate and real estate law with Kadison, Pfaelzer, Woodard, Quinn & Rossi and Johnsen, Manfredi & Thorpe, two prominent Los Angeles law firms, from 1979 through 1986. In 1986, he became a principal and member of Feder, Goodman & Schwartz and its predecessor firm, co-managing the firm’s corporate and real estate practice, which he continued through 1995. Mr. Lesser holds a Juris Doctor from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Rochester.
Christopher K. Davis is the Senior Vice President and the General Counsel. Mr. Davis joined Everest in 1998. He practiced securities and corporate law with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, a prominent national law firm headquartered in Los Angeles, from 1991 to 1995. In 1995 Mr. Davis served as Senior Staff Counsel and then Director of Corporate Legal of Pinkerton’s, Inc., a worldwide provider of security, investigation and related services, where he remained until 1997. Mr. Davis holds a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.
Nancy Terry is the Senior Vice President of Everest Properties, President of Everest Storage Holdings, Senior Asset Manager and Human Resources Director. Ms. Terry joined Everest in 1998. From 1979 to 1989, she was an Administrative Director for a large Southern California non-profit organization. From 1989 through 1993 she did independent organizational and reengineering consulting. From 1993 to 1998 she served as the West Coast Regional Administrative Manager for Comsul Ltd., a national telecommunications consulting firm. Ms. Terry holds a degree in Human Resources and Labor Relations from Loyola Marymount and a Network Engineering degree from Mount Sierra College.
Danford M. Baker is the Senior Vice President of Everest and the President of Everest Realty Management, LLC. Mr. Baker joined Everest in 2002. He served for three years in the U.S. Army where he was an armed helicopter platoon leader and executive officer during the Vietnam War. Mr. Baker spent 17 years as President and Chairman of Cannell & Chaffin, his family-owned national architectural planning, design and furnishings business. From 1991 to 1996, Mr. Baker was a principal in construction businesses in California. He then became a provider of New Energy Ventures, the largest retail energy service provider in the United States. Mr. Baker holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Literature from Claremont McKenna College, and is a California Licensed Real Estate Broker.
M. Brett Franklin is the Senior Vice President of Everest and Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Everest Realty Management, LLC. Prior to joining Everest in 2011, Mr. Franklin was Chief Executive Officer of a real estate consulting firm. From 1997 to 2009, Mr. Franklin served as Vice President of Acquisitions and then Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Dispositions of PS Business Parks Inc. (NYSE:PSB), where he was responsible for all acquisitions and dispositions and invested over $1.5 Billion in commercial real estate. Mr. Franklin worked for Public Storage Pickup & Delivery as Vice President of Acquisitions from 1996 to 1997, acquiring and leasing industrial properties across the country. From 1992 to 1995, Mr. Franklin held various positions for an environmental remediation and technology company, including Chief Operating Officer. From 1987 to 1992, he managed and operated a real estate brokerage company. Mr. Franklin received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Peter J. Wilkinson is the Senior Vice President and the Chief Financial Officer of Everest. Mr. Wilkinson joined Everest in 1996. From 1981 through 1987, he worked for Deloitte, Haskins and Sells and Coopers and Lybrand in their audit divisions. From 1987 to 1990, he was the company secretary and controller of Gresham Partners, an Australian investment bank. Mr. Wilkinson joined Bank of America in the United States from 1991 through 1996 and held a number of positions, culminating in becoming the Division Finance Officer for the Corporate Trust and Mortgage and Asset Backed divisions. Mr. Wilkinson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Nottingham University and is an English chartered accountant.
Andrew Plotnick is the Vice President of Everest, Asset Management. Mr. Plotnick joined Everest in 2010. He has worked in various capacities in the commercial real-estate industry since 1988, and has asset managed over $1.5 Billion of commercial real estate properties and closed over $300 Million in commercial real estate loans. Prior to joining Everest, Mr. Plotnick worked for American Realty Advisors, Winn Residential, Legg Mason and City National Bank. He also oversaw the renovation and sell-out of a 468 unit condominium conversion for Golub & Company and ING Realty Partners, and evaluated investment opportunities for a Chicago-based developer. Mr. Plotnick earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Tulane University in 1988.
Jorge Ramos is the Vice President of Everest, Asset Management. Mr. Ramos has over 10 years of real estate experience in asset management. Prior to joining Everest, he worked in the Asset Services division of Cushman and Wakefield in Los Angeles. He managed the construction, renovation and maintenance of 85+ Citibank facilities which comprised approximately 700,000 sq. ft. of retail and office space. Mr. Ramos earned an M.B.A. from Woodbury University in 2004 and a B.A. in Architecture from The University of California, Berkeley in 1995.
Kevin Kohorst is the Asset Manager of Everest. Mr. Kohorst joined Everest in 2012. Prior to joining Everest, he worked for Inter-Con Security as an Operations Manager for their California operation. He has also worked as an Account Manager for Equator Financial Solutions which provided software for financial institutions to manage their REO portfolios and as a Police Officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. Mr. Kohorst earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in 2007.
Brian Hanel is the Senior Vice President, Acquisition and Finance. Mr. Hanel joined Everest in 2010, and has consulted for the Company since 1998. From 2006 to 2010 Mr. Hanel served as Senior Vice President of Finance for Foxdales Properties, and prior to 2006 served as Senior Vice President, Finance and Business Development for Avail-TVN, SeniorVice President, Business Development for Magna Entertainment, and Senior Vice President and CFO for HomeSpace. Mr. Hanel holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Pomona College.
Erik O. Valderhaug is the Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Everest. Mr. Valderhaug joined Everest in 2008. From 2004 to 2008, he was the in-house legal counsel to Realty Income, a publicly traded real estate investment trust. Prior to 2004, he worked at prominent law firms in San Diego and Newport Beach representing clients in real estate acquisition, disposition, development, ownership, leasing and entity formation. Mr. Valderhaug holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. While in law school he was an Editor of the Law Review.
Stacey McClain is the Vice President, Communications. Ms. McClain joined Everest in 1997. Prior to joining Everest Ms. McClain was a Junior Research Analyst and communications director for a Los Angeles based hedge fund. Ms. McClain holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from California State University Northridge.
Richard Santilena is the Marketing Director. Mr. Santilena joined Everest in 2009. He has worked in various aspects of product and services marketing for over 20 years. Mr. Santilena worked as a marketing program manager for various marketing consulting firms throughout the U.S. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University and a Bachelor of Science degree from California Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Jorge Cuevas is the Controller for Everest. Mr. Cuevas joined Everest in 1997. Prior to joining Everest, Mr. Cuevas worked his way through school as a staff accountant with F&L Enterprises, a family owned company, from 1992 through 1996. Upon completion of his undergraduate degree, he joined Health Systems International, a Fortune 500 Company from 1996 through 1997. Mr. Cuevas earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in accounting from the University of Southern California in 1995.
Matt Kohorst is the Senior Financial Analyst of Everest. Mr. Kohorst joined Everest in 2014. Prior to joining Everest, he worked for Alliant Insurance, Inc. as a Program Administrator for their Owner/Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs for the Construction Services Group. Mr. Kohorst was a three year baseball letterman for the University of Kansas, and was First Team Academic All Big XII in 2012. Mr. Kohorst earned a Bachelor of Science, Business Management and Leadership from the University of Kansas in 2012.
Alexander Moore is the Asset Manager of Everest. Mr. Moore joined Everest in 2013. Prior to joining Everest, he worked as the Assistant Property Manager and Leasing Manager for Third Encore Studios. His principal duties were managing a portfolio of over 200 music studios throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area. Mr. Moore earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration, Accounting from Woodbury University in 2014.
